research

What are we investigating in our research?

In our research, we work with people with learning difficulties, specifically people with Down Syndrome and people with Williams syndrome.

Why are we carrying out our research?

Lots of people with learning difficulties have difficulty finding their way around on their own, for example they might get lost in a shop, in a town or even in their school or college. It is even more difficult when they have to travel on their own to get home or to get to school or work. How about you? Perhaps you have found it difficult to find your way around by yourself.

It is even more difficult when they have to travel on their own to get home or to get to school or work. How about you? Perhaps you have found it difficult to find your way around by yourself. We are asking the following questions:

  • What landmarks do you use?
  • How do you learn a route?
  • How do you find a new route (e.g. if your usual route is blocked) or a short-cut?

Our aim is to create some helpful tips and advice to enable you to be able to find your way around, and to learn new routes to the best of your ability.
